Security Wing

 Background: The Security Unit started functioning independently, w.e.f. 20-05-1998 on being separated from SB  Unit (vide Govt. of Tripura, Home Department Memo No.F.21(19)-1D/98, dated 20-05-1998) for providing dedicated security to the VIPs and all protected persons in the State of Tripura  (Ref. No.38 (7)-PD/2002 (Part) dated-07-06-2012)

Basic Functions: 
(i) VIP Security i.e., proximate security arrangement in connection with Ex- State dignitaries and protectees.
(ii) Security of other officer including DGP Tripura.
(iii) Security of Raj Bhavan.
(iv) Security of State Secretariat.
(v) Security of State Legislative Assembly.
(vi) Security of vital installations in the State.
(vii) Residential Guards, Escorts and detailment of PSOs during election etc . also come under the supervision and monitoring of this unit.

Hierarchy: DGP, Tripura assisted by IGP (Int.)DIG (CID)  and SP (Security). 
Rules & Regulations: Rules and Regulations of this Security Unit is governed by the Security Manual and the ‘Blue Book’ related to the protection of VVIPs and’  Yellow Book’ for protection of VIPs. Besides, Security review committee recommendations duly approved by Home Department, Govt. of Tripura is followed strictly.

Modernization: This Unit procured latest BDDS Equipments, created trained officers pool by giving proper training relating to VIP Security and Bomb Disposal from inside and outside of State.

Welfare Measures: Donation of Blood, Monitory help from Welfare Fund for marriage and treatment purpose besides farewell to the retired persons of this unit is being held regularly.

Special tasks performed: (i) Anti-Sabotage Check through out the State, (ii) Advance Security Liaison during visit of VVIPs and Z+ Category Protectees, (iii) Training in NSG, ITBP and NEPA for VIP Security, (iv) Training of Police personnel in BD under NSG etc., (v) Deployment of Plain-Clothed Security personnel during visit of H.E. the president of India, Prime Minister of India other, VVIPs including Foreign Dignitaries, (vi) Placement of Decoy for testing of alertness regularly deployed in Vital installation by this Security Unit. This Unit has received commendation for the excellent, incident free performance through out the years with full satisfactions of the Government and the Department as well till date.
