Shri Amitabh Ranjan belongs to 1988 batch of Indian Police Service. He has done post graduation in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. He has vast experience of working in the State of Tripura. During 1989 to 1998, he worked in various capacities in North, Dhalai and West Tripura District apart from working as Superintendents of Police, Vigilance Organization and Special Branch including CID.
During 1998 to 2022, he was on central deputation and worked in various capacities in Intelligence Bureau in different parts of the country. He was also on deputation to Ministry of External Affairs and worked in Embassy of India, Berlin from 2012 to 2016.
He has been conferred with the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service and President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
On 28th July, 2022, Shri Amitabh Ranjan, IPS assumed the charge of Director General of Police,Tripura.
Shri Anurag belongs to 1994 Batch of Indian Police Service. He is Post Graduate in Food Technology from CFTRI, Mysore. He also holds Masters Degree in Police Management from Osmania University and Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Crimes from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner from ACFE, USA. He has vast experience of serving in the State of Tripura during 1995 to 2003. He served as SDPO, Longtharai Valley and District SP of undivided West and South Tripura Districts, apart from serving as Superintendent of Police, Special Branch and AIGP (HQr).
During 2003-04, he also served in UN Mission in Kosovo. During 2005 to 2013, he was on central deputation and served as SP and DIG in CBI. On return from central deputation, he served as IGP (Law & Order) Tripura from 2013 to 2016. During 2016 to 2023, he again went on central deputation and served as IG, Research & Correctional Administration, BPR&D and IG (Pers) in CISF, besides Joint Director and Additional Director in CBI. Shri Anurag has also served as Chairman of SIT (1984 Anti-Sikh Riots) under Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
He has been conferred with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
On 18th September, 2023, Shri Anurag, IPS assumed the charge of Addl. Director General of Police, Tripura and subsequently posted as Addl. Director General of Police (Law & Order), Tripura w.e.f. 30th September, 2023.
Shri Anurag was promoted and posted as Director General of Police (intelligence) with additional charge of Addl. Director General of Police (Law & Order ) w.e.f. 1st January 2024.
Shri M. Raja Murugan, IPS belongs to the 1996 Batch of Indian Police Service. He has vast experience of working in the State of Tripura. Before going on Central Deputation in 2004, he has worked in various capacities in Tripura as Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Dharmanagar, Addl. Superintendent of Police (North), Dy. Commandant, 1st Battalion Tripura State Rifles, Superintendent of Police (Communication), Principal, Police Training College (Presently KTDS Police Training Academy), Superintendent of Police, Dhalai District and Superintendent of Police, South Tripura District (undivided).
During 2004 to 2022, he was on deputation with the Government of India and worked in various capacities in different parts of the country. He has been conferred with the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service in the year 2012 and President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2022.
Upon joining back the cadre, Shri M. Raja Murugan, IPS assumed the charge of Additional Director General of Police (Training), Tripura on 2nd September, 2022.
Shri Goduguluri Srinivasa Rao belongs to the 1999 batch of the Indian Police Service and is borne on the Tripura Cadre. He has done B.Tech in Computer Engineering from Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, Andhra University, Vishakapatnam.
He has served in Tripura in various capacities as SDPO Amarpur, Addl S.P.(Rural) West Tripura District, Commandant 5th BN. Tripura State Rifles, SP North Tripura District, SP West Tripura District, AIG (Operations) PHQ, SP South Tripura District and SP (Special Branch). He has conducted large number of successful Counter Insurgency operations during this period. He was awarded Antrik Suraksha Seva Medal, Police Special Duty Medal and the DGP’s Commendation Disc.
Shri G. Srinivasa Rao, joined the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in July 2010 as Assistant Director and served the Academy in various capacities as Assistant Director (Indoor Studies) and Deputy Director (Basic Course) till February 2017. He was awarded the Director’s Commendation Disk & Insignia twice at the Academy in 2013 and 2015 respectively and the Police Meritorious Service Medal and is closely associated with training of several batches of IPS officers during this period.
He has joined his cadre Tripura in February 2017 and on promotion served as IGP in various capacities in Armed Police, Training, Crime Branch till 2024.
He was promoted as Additional Director General of Police on 1/1/2024 and is presently serving as ADGP, Armed Police, Tripura. He served as State Police Nodal officer for all Elections during 2017-2024 and has experience in conducting elections during this period and has been awarded DGPs Commendation Disc twice apart from several other recognitions during this period.
Shri Avula Ramesh Reddy, IPS belongs to the 2007 Batch of Indian Police Service. He has vast experience in different capacities such as ASP (West), SDPO (Amarpur), ASP (South), ASP (CID), SDPO (Santirbazar), Dy. Comdt. 5th BN TSR, ADC to the Hon’ble Governor of Tripura before proceeding on central deputation in the year-2013. During the tenure of central deputation, he was posted as Superintendent of Police, NIA, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Kochi. On return from central deputation in the year-2017, he was posted as Commandant 1st BN Tripura State Rifles (TSR). In the year-2018, Shri Avula Ramesh Reddy, IPS was posted as Superintendent of Police (Gomati) District, Tripura upto 2020 before going to Inter-state deputation to Andhra Pradesh upto the year-2023. During the tenure of Inter-state deputation, Shri Avula Ramesh Reddy was posted as Superintendent of Police (Tirupati) District, Superintendent of Police (CM’s Security) and also as Director in the rank of DIG in the Special Enforcement Bureau, Andhra Pradesh. On return from Inter-state deputation, Shri Avula Ramesh Reddy, IPS is presently posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police (HQr), Tripura w.e.f. the date of 3rd April, 2023.
