HISTORY : Central Training Institute(HG&CD) commonly known as CTI was set up in Tripura in the year 1980 in pursuance of Govt. of India Order No. 1/16/76-DGCD(HG) dt. 23rd August, 1980. Initially it was established at A.D.Nagar, Agartala at Home Guards headquarters complex in the year 1982. Subsequently, it was shifted to East Gakulnagar on 13.5.1994 in obedience to PHQ order No. 13797-MV (175)/PHQ/92 dt. 4.5.1994.
FUNCTION/CHARTER OF DUTIES : CTI was mainly created as a Combined Training Institute for both Home Guards & Civil Defense Volunteers . It conducts various types of training viz. Basic training, Refresher training, Special Arms training for Home Guards and Rescue Operation training, Fire fighting and First aid training for CD (civil defense) Volunteers. From the year 2005 a new type of training styled as Pre-Induction training was introduced at CTI for Tribal youths sponsored by the T.W Department to facilitate the selection of Tribal youth to get service under Army/CPMF. Now as per decision of the Govt. of Tripura, Revenue Deptt. vide No. 12(5)REV/DRM/2004 dt. 30.4.2005 the Central Training Institute has been declared as ‘State Nodal Institution for imparting Practical Training on Disaster Management for both the official and non official in the State.
RULES & REGULATIONS : The Central Training Institute(CTI) is governed by the Directorate General Civil Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India as per Home Guards Compendium of Instructions and Bombay Home guards Act & Rules 1962.
