MESSAGE FROM DGP TRIPURA

It’s an honour and great privilege to be the Head of the Police Force of the State of Tripura. As Director General of Police, Tripura, I extend my warm greetings to the people of Tripura and all members of Tripura Police.

        I am deeply aware of the fact that in view of the magnificent history of Tripura Police in combating three-decades old militancy in the State, Tripura Police has been conferred with “President’s Colour” which is the highest honour bestowed upon any Indian military unit or State/UT Police Force. In fact, Tripura is the fourth state in the country after Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Tamil Nadu to receive this rare distinction.

        We are committed to uphold the rule of law impartially and honestly assuring the dignity of the individual and protection of human rights. We aim to provide a secure environment and maintain public order for all sections of society with special emphasis on vulnerable and under privileged including women, children and minorities. Keeping in view emerging challenges of policing and increasing new age sophisticated crimes like cyber crime, white collar crimes etc., we are upgrading our professional skills and capabilities to meet the present challenges and prepare for the future.

        I believe that Police and community only thrive when they work closely together and have a high degree of trust between them. Tripura Police has been focussing towards community policing to enhance public-police interface in preventing social evils like crime against women, drug trafficking and inculcating safe driving etc.

        I am confident that the Tripura Police will continue to do the good work and adopt a people friendly approach to achieve the goal of ushering peace and progress in the State with the unstinted support of the community.
